superhero "
Earth-Man" is active

1991: Collapse of the Soviet Union

1991: Secret vampire societies set up by Dracula
meddle in world affairs; "Edge" the Dhampir
(Half-Vampire) stalks among them hunting down
vampires

1991: Martial artists with superhuman powers
globally popularize the sport of fighting quasi-legal
duels with one another

1991: Many superheroes reject the traditional
superhero code that was adhered to since WWII in
favor of a much more violent and sadistic approach
to crime-fighting.  Finally, the Supreme Court
overturns the code as unconstitutional.

1992: Bettie the Monster Hunter active

Artificial Intelligence, which promptly tries to take
over the world until this glitch in its programming is
fixed

nations of the world temporarily unite to repel
another alien invasion

1997: High school students at secret schools study

1999: Cyberpunk martial artists discover that all
of reality may be a complex computer simulation and
that humans may actually be living batteries for
advanced artificially intelligent machines.  However,
this theory does not gain widespread acceptance in
the scientific community.  Critics often claim that
it's a drug induced delusion resulting from use of
hallucinogenic "Red Pills"

1999: William J. Berg is accidentally frozen and will
ultimately be thawed out in the year 2999

2000: The monstrous Y2K Bug is narrowly defeated
through the combined efforts of virtually every
active hero

2000: Satan visits the Earth in the guise of an
attractive British woman

2000: A trend emerges of a surprisingly large
minority of superheroes turning out to be gay.

Who would have guessed that these champions of
justice whose archetypal ideal is a well muscled male
body dressed in tight spandex, Lycra, rubber,
leather, etc, often including tiny speedos (pants
optional), could harbor such a shocking secret?

Among the heroes (and a few villains) who stunned
the world by outing themselves as gays/lesbians...
- The B-Boys (yes, all of them)
- The Basketeer
- The Glitter Gang
- Neon Sign Man
- Screaming Mimi
- The Spider Lady
...and many others

Is reality secretly a complex computer simulation or
does the cyberpunk community suffer from
drug-induced delusions?

You be the judge.
America was stunned
to learn that some
superheroes may
actually be gay
